BTR is a workout tracker for Android that keeps your training on your own phone.
This policy describes how the BTR (Build Track Repeat) Android app handles your data.
What data we collect
This app stores the following data, and it stays on your device unless you choose otherwise:
- Workout and exercise data you enter (sets, reps, weights, notes)
- Exercise images you add to the app
Where data is stored
All data is stored in two places, both under your control:
- On your device — in a local SQLite database.
- In your own Google Drive — if you enable backup, data is synced to a folder in your personal Google Drive account. We never have access to this data.
Photos and permissions
Choosing an image. When you add an image to an exercise, the app opens your device’s photo picker so you can choose one. Only the image you select is read and copied into the app. We never read the rest of your photo library, and the app does not use your camera.
Storage permission when importing. On Android 12L and older, the app asks for storage permission the first time you import a file — a workout pack, a routine pack, or an EMOM pack. It is used only to read the file you picked. On Android 13 and newer this prompt does not appear, because the system file picker handles access and no permission is needed. Exporting never asks for permission on any version, since you choose where the file is saved.
Nothing described in this section sends data off your device.
Google Drive access
This app requests access to Google Drive solely to back up and restore your own workout data. We only read and write files created by this app. We do not access any other files in your Drive.
Crash and diagnostic reports
To find and fix crashes, the app uses Google Firebase Crashlytics. When the app crashes, it sends:
- the stack trace of the crash
- the state of the app at the moment it crashed
- device information such as model and operating system version
- a randomly generated installation identifier, used only to count how many users a crash affects
This goes to Google, which processes it on our behalf so that we can fix the problem. It is not linked to your name, your email address, or your workout data. It is sent automatically, and there is currently no setting in the app to turn it off. Google retains these reports according to Firebase’s data retention policy.
Video links you add
You can attach a video link to an exercise. When you play it, the app opens that link in a browser window inside the app. The site you linked to — YouTube, or any other site you pasted — receives that request and may set its own cookies, exactly as it would in any browser. We do not send your workout data to it.
Sharing a workout
When you use the share button, you choose which app receives the summary, and the data goes wherever you send it. We are not involved in that transfer and we do not receive a copy.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising.
- The app contains no advertising SDK, and no analytics or tracking SDK. We do not measure how you use the app.
- We run no servers of our own, so there is no account with us, and your workout data is never sent to us.
- The only data that leaves your device to a service we chose is the crash reporting described above.
Data deletion
Your workout data: you can delete all of it at any time by uninstalling the app and removing the backup folder from your Google Drive. Both locations are under your control.
Crash reports: these contain nothing that identifies you, so they cannot be looked up or deleted individually. They are retained by Google according to Firebase’s data retention policy.
Changes to this policy
If the app changes in a way that affects your data, this policy is updated and the date at the top changes with it.
This website
Everything above is about the app. This website is separate and simpler: it has no forms, no accounts and no cookies. It counts page views through Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and reports totals only — we cannot see who visited, and there is nothing here to consent to.
